September Updates!

I hope everyone will plan to attend the lunch meeting in the Small Auditorium on Monday the 14th. Dr. Blackwelder is going to get us fired up about making our voices heard, since we as medical students have a unique perspective on health care issues.

A couple highlights:
  • Easy advocacy: quick ways we can get involved in shaping the future of medicine
  • A way Quillen students can DOUBLE Tennessee's involvement in one aspect of advocacy
If you've been looking for a way to get involved, but don't know how to start, be sure to attend this meeting! As always, lunch will be provided.

Since the health reform debate is still going full strength, here's some info from the AAFP that breaks the proposals down into a few simple items:

Also check out this AAFP link, where you can learn about what "Patient Centered Medical Home" means, and watch a short video about it from the viewpoint of patients, physicians, employers, and political leaders.
